Coming Soon: Summer Book Study with Pastor Matt

Hi everyone! With summer fast approaching, I wanted to get the word out early for a Summer Book Study I’ll be leading for our Partnership beginning in July. The book we’ll be reading is called “Chasing Francis” by Ian Morgan Cron, the story of a burnt-out megachurch pastor who nearly loses his faith entirely before rediscovering what serving Jesus is all about by following in the footsteps of St. Francis. Written for the increasing number of believers who “walk out of church asking, ‘Is this all there is?’,” it’s a story that should provoke good conversations about what it means to be a Christian in this day and age and how each one of us can answer Jesus’ call in our own lives.

The first meeting for the study will be at 7 pm on Tuesday, July 8th at Spencer UMC (117 Spencer Ave, 15227). I realize that with summer vacations and hectic schedules it can be hard to attend regularly, and that’s why there will be an option of an online discussion group through Facebook as well. And just FYI, although we will have a number of hard copies of the book available at the first meeting for $12, Kindle readers should know that the e-book of Chasing Francis is currently going for only $3.99 on Amazon.
